Location and Directions

The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle extend out from foothills bordering the western edge of the Merano basin. The Gardens have an altitude differential of more than 100 metres. This allows the visitor to perceive the Gardens’ numerous landscapes from various points of view. Sweeping views of the city and surrounding mountains look altogether different if taken in from the flat area around the Water Lily Pond or from high up on the cliffs: equally beautiful, but definitely a different perspective.

How to find us

• Highway A22 (Brennero - Modena), exit Bolzano sud
• Expressway Bolzano-Merano (ss38, “MeBo”), exit Merano sud
• Turnoff to Scena

Driving Directions

• From Bolzano, take the Merano Sud exit from the MEBO (SS38) expressway towards Merano, then turn in the direction of Scena at the second roundabout, and proceed around 2 km to the parking area of the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle.

Car parking

• P1: 250 spaces, parking fee € 1.50 for garden visitor (per day)
• P3: 100 spaces, free of charge

Coach parking

• P1: 9 spaces, free of charge
• P2: approx. 10 spaces, free of charge

• Regional train to Merano
• From Merano train station, take city bus # 4 or # 1B

DIRECTIONS ON FOOT

• Follow the Sissi-Weg (Sissi’s Path) signs from the Merano city centre. You will pass serene corners, stately mansions and enchanting residences between the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle and the heart of the city.
