Landscapes of South Tyrol
In Landscapes of South Tyrol you will find pristine natural and cultivated landscapes that reflect that region’s diversity.Endangered native varieties:
Explore the natural downy oak forest then head towards the Alluvial Forest and pretend you are wandering along the Adige River through a primordial fen thousands of years ago. Then proceed onwards towards the autochthonous vineyard and orchard to examine a living museum of rare and endangered native varieties of grapes and other fruit.Wine Cultural Treasure:
Peer into a tabernacle to see one of South Tyrol’s oldest cultural treasures: recently discovered grape seeds that date back 2,400 years. Gawk at the replica of a 7,000-year-old grape seed that the oldest wine region, Georgia, gave to South Tyrol, the oldest wine region in the german speaking area, to honour the treasure of wine tradition/culture. It is made of pure gold!In 2006 the Gardens assumed patronage of the Versoaln grape vine – the largest and probably oldest living grapevine in the world.
