The Trauttmansdorff Company
The Trauttmansdorff Company comprises the Gardens, the museum, the leased restaurant, café and shop. The Autonomous Province of Bolzano (Bozen), South Tyrol owns the site, which covers a surface area of twelve hectares. Laimburg Estate Management manages the botanical gardens commercially, under the supervision of the government of the Province of South Tyrol. The four Garden Worlds:
The Gardens are divided into four Garden Worlds: Forests of the World, the Sun Gardens, the Water and Terraced Gardens and Landscapes of South Tyrol. The Show Gardens present collections of plants grouped according to type, variety and colour – divisions that occurred either naturally or through breeding.Unique features:
A unique feature of the Gardens is the natural amphitheatre shape of the site. Complex terracing of the steep terrain allows for an enlarged planting area, while an altitude differential of more than 100 metres gives added dimension and multiple perspectives. Masons built the Garden’s three kilometres of walls from local stone – 10% granite and 90% quartz porphyry.PLANTING AND GARDEN MAINTENANCE

A staff of around 25 gardeners maintains the 12-hectare site.More information...
