General description
The Judas tree is known for its unusual flowering habit: clusters of pink-violet blossoms appear directly on the trunk and older branches before the leaves emerge. At Trauttmansdorff, it creates striking visual accents in spring along the water lily pond. Its appearance feels both exotic and familiar.
Care
It prefers warm, sunny positions and well-drained soil. The Judas tree is drought-tolerant and requires little maintenance. Waterlogging should be avoided. Pruning is rarely necessary.
Special features & use in the home garden
In private gardens, it works best as a standalone specimen. Its early and distinctive flowering makes it a focal point in spring. Well suited to Mediterranean-style planting schemes.
