Reaching the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
By car, bus, and train
To reach Merano from Vienna 150 years ago, Empress Sissi was faced with an arduous multi-day journey across the Alps by carriage. Today, there are a wide range of options. Whether it’s by car, bus, train, bike, or even on foot, getting to the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castel or the Touriseum nowadays has become a lot easier – and quicker. No matter which way you decide to travel, we are looking forward to your visit!
Getting to Merano by car or coach is both practical and convenient. If you’re coming via Bolzano/Bozen, take the ME-BO (SS 38) motorway. If you’re crossing over the Passo di Resia/Reschenpass (from Austria) along the SS 40 which joins the SS 38, take the Sinigo/Sinich turnoff. Then head towards the town centre, and at the second roundabout follow the road signs to Scena/Schenna. From there, it’s only 2 km to the Trauttmansdorff Castle parking lot.
SatNav address: Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, or Naifdammweg (SP8).
