Ecos de Siboney
Herederos oficiales De Compay Segundo - Buena Vista Social Club
Máximo Francisco Repilado Muñoz, better known as Compay Segundo, was one of the world-famous musicians of the Buena Vista Social Club and the composer of the iconic song Chan Chan. Even at the remarkable age of 94, he continued to perform on the world’s great stages.
For almost 20 years now, his grandsons Ernesto, Leonardo and Alejandro Repilado have been honoring his musical legacy. From their grandfather, they learned how to play traditional Cuban Son in an authentic way. Compay himself expressed the wish that his “poetic music” – as he liked to call his compositions – would live on in his spirit. He personally entrusted Ecos de Siboney with carrying on his legacy, officially naming them his successors.
This marked the beginning of a group that quickly gained recognition. In Cuba, Ecos de Siboney has received the prestigious Premio Lucas twice and has been nominated for the Premio Cubadisco – the Cuban equivalent of the Grammy Awards – in the category Traditional Music. Their video Me dirás que sabroso was also awarded in the same category.
Today, the group keeps the spirit of traditional Son Cubano alive while also creating their own music. Songs like Tengo un Son have become successful pieces performed around the world – fulfilling Compay Segundo’s original vision:

During their live performances, audiences can enjoy many of Compay Segundo’s most beloved songs, including Chan Chan, Las Flores de la Vida, El Camisón de Pepa, Orgullecida, Macusa and La Guantanamera, alongside their own vibrant repertoire.
